Before the floor goes on we cut a hole to access the spare and a hole for the black water tank. The bottom is covered with a thick roofing tar, heated to assist in getting it applied. We discovered the best tool to apply and spread the tar was gloved hands. After the tar a flashing tape was applied to the edges of the plywood to prevent in future water penetration. The tapes rated life is 30 years!

About Us

Hi I am Spiralelm and my wife Bird Lady.  This site is to share our adventure in building our retirement camper. After going to some RV shows we knew we just couldn't afford to buy a commercial one.  And we feel we can build one that is just as good for 1/3 of the price.
